At The Durham Foundation, we are dedicated to empowering women through community partnerships. The goal of our initiatives is to make a difference in the lives of women.

Helping working parents bridge the gap
In 2025, the State of Indiana stopped issuing new childcare vouchers, resulting in a crisis for many working families. To help bridge this funding issue, The Durham Foundation partnered with the Montgomery County Community Foundation to create The Durham Foundation Community Childcare Assistance Pass-Through Fund. The money from the fund will provide tuition assistance for qualifying working parents whose children are enrolled in Montgomery County nonprofit childcare or early learning centers.

Inspiring young girls to become engineers
The Durham Foundation is a proud sponsor of I Can Be An Engineer, Inc., a non-profit organization that reaches out to elementary school children to generate excitement about the field of engineering. The mission of I Can Be An Engineer is to inform and educate young children about engineering, with the goal to inspire more girls to become engineers. Engineering is introduced by reading from the "I Can Be An Engineer" book series. The program opens the dynamic world of engineering to the bright minds of young learners. In 2026, The Durham Foundation donated books to every 1st grader in Hose Elementary School.

Circle of 1875
A women-powered giving group
The Durham Foundation has been an active member of the Circle of 1875 in Montgomery County since 2023.
The Franciscan circle of 1875 is a women-powered giving group that brings together women to make a meaningful difference in their community through Franciscan Health. Members pool their annual financial gifts to support various capital and programmatic needs at Franciscan Health campuses.
Annual Community Baby Shower
Helping new mothers
Franciscan Health and the Montgomery County Health Department organized the first annual Montgomery County Baby Shower in 2021. The community baby shower is for mothers that are currently expecting or have recently given birth. The goal of the event is to connect new and expecting parents to community resources that offer education, support, and guidance. Families in attendance receive a generous baby shower gift. The Durham Foundation has been a proud sponsor of the annual Community Baby shower since its inception.

Preparing Future Leaders
The goal at the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County is to help prepare the members to be LEADERS of TOMORROW. By doing so, positive attitudes, education, good sportsmanship and friendship is encouraged. The aim is to empower boys and girls with the skills needed to face all types of challenges that they may encounter.
The Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County bases its programs on membership, community involvement and its recognized role as an advocate for youth.
