Beginning 2020, The Durham Foundation established scholarship opportunities, through the Montgomery County Community Foundation, to support higher education for young women graduating from a Montgomery County, Indiana, high school.
A second Scholarship Grant was created in 2021 at the Montgomery County Community Foundation to support continuing education for women following a non-traditional path in Montgomery County, Indiana.
To increase the impact of these scholarships each year, The Durham Foundation contributes additional funds to both awards.
The Durham Foundation Scholarship was established in 2020 to advance Sarah Durham's mission to empower women. A graduating young woman who resides in a Montgomery County, Indiana, school district and has been accepted to an Indiana higher education degreed program may apply for the scholarship. This opportunity is available to public, private, and home schools in Montgomery County, Indiana. This scholarship is awarded to one Montgomery County young woman each year.
The Durham Foundation Scholarship Fund was created by The Durham Foundation board of directors in 2021 to honor Shirley O’Neall’s service to the organization for over 50 years. The purpose of this scholarship is to support local women in Montgomery County, Indiana, pursuing education in a non-traditional manner.
